THEATRE DIRECTOR | ACTOR | EDUCATOR
I believe that when you are in touch with art, borders vanish, and the world opens up.
For 11 years (2005-2016), I worked as Marketing Associate at Walker International Communications Group (WICG). At WICG, I provided strategic marketing and audience development for theatre, music, and dance performances. I was constantly challenged to think about programming, marketing, and outreach in new and transformative ways. My work at WICG made me realize the lack of arts education and awareness among minority youth. Because of this realization, I volunteered my time to teach at high schools throughout Brooklyn and Queens. This eventually led to a Teaching Artist position at The Harlem School of the Arts where I taught acting for two years (2007-2009).
In 2016, I accepted a position as a Teaching Artist / Public Relations Associate at The New Victory Theater. Located in Times Square, The New Victory Theater is a leader in arts education, audience engagement, and youth employment. The New Victory provides students of all ages the chance to experience high-quality theatre in the heart of New York City's Theatre District. At the New Victory, I got to lead workshops in acting, directing, playwriting, music, and dance. I am proud to say that I have introduced nearly 40,000 NYC students to a broad spectrum of theatre from around the world.
In 2019, I was awarded a Teaching Fellowship at Boston University where I taught several courses in the conservatory-style theatre curriculum. Some of the courses included Acting & Performance 1, Advanced Acting, and Beginning Directing.
As an instructor, I strive to bring a sense of play and whimsy to the studio. I am inspired by Diane Ackerman’s quote; Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning. I strongly believe that creativity is about play and a willingness to follow your intuition.
I seek to unleash the playful energy in every artist and translate it into an active working career!
